Lake Tahoe 2011
The Schrag family just returned from our first trip to beautiful Lake Tahoe. What a beautiful lake! Take Lake Wawassee and add mountains, crystal clear water, and pine trees. The only bad part is that Lake Tahoe is a 7 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas. Although the trip was long, the kids did well. Ava kept busy drawing and reading her Leap Frog Tag books and Bryce slept and watched movies. Bryce even made it 7 1/2 hours with no potty accidents! Yeah!
We were at Lake Tahoe to celebrate Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to two great Dads! On Father's Day we rented a paddle boat and cruised out on the lake against the wind for about an hour. Who said on Father's Day you wouldn't have to work! We had lunch at our condo and played at the beach with the kids. We made dinner at home and just relaxed watching the sunset on the mountains!
Omi and Opa made a trip up to see us. We played in the water and had a great time swimming in the pool. We ate dinner and got some yummy ice cream afterwards.
We all spent some time hiking around the parks and trails around the lake. Ava is getting pretty good at handling some short hikes, but Bryce is a different story. His little legs only carry him so far. He tried, but there were only limited places he would go before he wanted to be carried! Ugh...carrying 30 pounds on a mile hike equals no fun! Maybe next year we can take a few longer hikes...we'll see.
Here are some of my favorite pictures of the scenery of Lake Tahoe.
The kids had a great time playing with the ladybugs on the beach. I always tell Ava that ladybugs are lucky, so she thought this must be her luckiest trip! The kids picked them up from the sand and let them crawl all over their arms and fingers. Pretty cute!
We spent a lot of time playing in the sand and exploring on the rocks on the edge of the beach. Ava was like a mountain goat crawling across the rocks! We found some minnows, butterflies, crayfish claws, and even some tadpoles.
What a beautiful escape. We can hardly wait for next year!
